Child abuse within the family unit 07 Mar 2006
Twenty years ago the problem of child sexual abuse was relatively unknown until Esther Rantzen addressed it on the BBC ONE programme, That's Life, and founded the service Childline.

But the problem is still with us - last year 8,000 children phoned Childline to report this kind of abuse. As the family is now at the forefront of the government's social policies, are we in denial as never before that abuse goes on within the family unit? And what happens when that abuse is disclosed?
