The Valley of the Shadow by Marguerite Horner

"I find that once I have decided on a course of action with my work I can then listen to the radio. With only the language of words to work with, my imagination is free to form the images. It is like having a good friend reading  aloud, leaving my eyes free to get on with my painting. The radio also helps quieten the internal dialogue of my mind, and while in this relaxed state I can then focus my attention on the materials. This helps me become more intuitive and in touch with my feelings for the work."
