"This painting came about as a direct response to a Radio 4 documentary which I heard earlier this year. The documentary was about the bombing of the Rainbow Warrior in New Zealand. The challenge was to depict the feeling which had taken place in my head without actually having witnessed the scene. The result was a purely emotional response to the disaster, showing the Rainbow Warrior battling against high seas, extreme weather conditions and environmental pollution. I am an amateur painter, painting mainly from home and the radio is a constant companion, which I use both as a background and source of my work."
