"I have listened to the radio for as long as I can remember. Every radio I own is set to Radio 4, even the one in my car. I never buy a newspaper, so it is the one way I can keep up with what is going on with the world. It is like a best friend and a constant companion when I work in my studio. Visitors seem to drop into my studio to tell me about their lives through docinetaries, interviews and plays. It doesn't interrupt my train of thought, when I'm concentrating on a difficult piece of work, and is interesting and informative when I need time to think about what I do next"
