Harlequin with Playful Peppers by Dylan Waldron

"Radio has been my constant, invaluable companion for nearly 30 years of working alone as a painter. If I'm working on a painting based in the old traditions, then an early music or harpsichord recital on Radio 3 gets me  inhabiting that world. By contrast, work really flies along at 5.00pm on Saturday with Jazz Record Requests! I love the variety of Radio 4 and can be absorbed by drama short  stories, factual or poetry programmes and yet these assist another part of my mind in the flow of drawing and painting. Although I work in solitary isolation, radio keeps me inspired and well in touch with the outside world. Constantly discovering and learning, whether it be a new composer, poet, writer or scientific fact all contributing to the work I am involved with."
