"The sound of Radio 4 is unobtrusive and varied company. I switch on the radio and at the same time switch off other sounds and distractions. From landscape sketches I play with colour, atmosphere, compositions, texture and tone. I like the sound of amusing farmyard noises and actors accents in The Archers, also programmes which keep me in contact with the rest of the world such as the news and From Our Own Correspondent. With Radio 4 switched on, a meditative energy channel opens and I can paint."
