"When working on a new picture, friends will often visit. They proffer suggestions, support and encouragement. However their influence is limited,fleeting. When working, frankly, they occupy space. Radio friends, on the other hand, occupy my mind and guide my hand, my brush. Each stroke of my brush paints the world that comes from the cellos and strings of Radio 3 or the discourse of Radio 4. Each heartfelt mark is made in response to a beloved friend. Always may my radio remain my friend..."
