"Desert Island Discs, Womans' Hour, Eddie Mayer, the News Quiz... I listen and paint. My day is measured by the programmes and my company is kept. I don’t like to be interrupted during the Afternoon Play , and laugh out loud at funny things; Alan Bennet reading his new book. I am at ease with radio friends and time speeds by, sound freedom must be the best thing about independent work. I am a Botanical painter working towards two shows next year. Libby Purves is on at the moment – must listen."
