The Chinese in Britain have been known as the silent minority, undemanding and untroublesome. But allegations that the 2001 foot and mouth outbreak was started by contaminated meat from a Chinese restaurant brought the community together to protest in an unprecedented way. For the first time, second generation BBCs stood up to what they saw as scape-goating and racism and found a common voice. And again it was the British Chinese websites that helped bring the community together to protest. Interviewees include Sarah Yeh of Dimsum, Steve Lau of the British Born Chinese website and people's peer Lord Chan of Oxton.
