Anatomy for Beginners
Professor Colin Blakemore, Chief Executive of the Medical Research Council, joins Kirsty Lang to review Anatomy for Beginners - a new programme on Channel 4 in which Gunther Von Hagens, famous for his exhibition of dead human bodies. dissects a corpse.
Anatomy for Beginners is on Channel 4 from Monday 24 January at 11.05 pm.
Kronos Quartet
Kirsty Lang talks to John Sherba and David Harrington of the Kronos Quartet who are premiering a new work by contemporary American composer Meredith Monk.
BBC Radio 3 will broadcast the Kronos Quartet's London concert, recorded on 22 January, on 22 March.
Film Biopics
At this year's Golden Globes Jamie Foxx took home a best actor award for his performance as Ray Charles in the film biopic Ray, while Leonardo DiCaprio won best dramatic actor for his portrayal of Howard Hughes in Aviator. Next year film biopics of Johnny Cash, played by Joaquin Pheonix and Janis Joplin, played by Renee Zellwegger are released. So, with the rise of stars depicting other stars, Front Row presents the great biopic challenge.
Emlyn Williams
A profile of Welsh theatre director, stage and film actor and playwright Emlyn Williams famous for his plays The Druid's Rest and The Corn is Green and for giving Richard Burton his first acting job.
The Druid’s Rest is on at Theatre Clwyd in Mold from 27 January to 19 February and then tours to Newport, Bangor, Aberystwyth and Milford Haven.
