"We can't say much about the next album, but it'll be probably our most radical departure yet."

Tim phones a friend Are you looking forward to playing with DJ Shadow at Nottingham?
Tim: Yeah, I am. I'm quite pleased we're on first because otherwise you can't always enjoy it as you have to get ready.

The Bard: Any thoughts on vocalists for the next album?
Richard: We can't say much about the next album, but it'll be probably our most radical departure yet.

coz mic: If you could be one person for the day who would it be, and why?
Richard: I'd have to come back to that one!
Tim: For different reasons you'd be different people - it would be nice to be Shakespeare for a day and see what was going on in his head. Or that carpenter who was wandering the earth 2,000 years ago.

DayBeat: How about the set list of this tour, are you still playing a lot of the old material?
Tim: Not only the new stuff. There are a couple of favorites which have sadly bitten the bullet.
Richard: We've kind of remixed the sound on old things. Apart from one show, we wanted it not to be about people waiting for Liam to come on, but for the dynamics of the music to be even more important.
Tim: As soon as you have a front person, that's all you look at - you don't look at the visuals.
Richard: And that's our front person, really. They are put together by Spencer and Noah. They were given imagery, film and things that we like, and a few things were shot especially. Spencer's got a company called Lazy Eye - his visual company.

FischerspoonerRhys: What do you think of Fischerspooner?
Tim: I've never really thought about them.
Richard: There's a lot of that about - we've been into electro for years, and there's a resurgence of it. I think if you can listen to Fischerspooner you can tell they are musical, and it's well done. But it kind of put the nail in the coffin of the whole scene for me. It is good technically and musically, but it's too over the top for me. I like stuff more stripped down.

"Richard on Hands Around My Throat: "It's about sex, someone's fetish - strangulation."

Ollie: I loved the video to Aisha - anything cool planned for the singles off this album?
Tim: There's one for Hands Around My Throat which Rich directed which is great.
Richard: It's got Emmanuel Seigner, Roman Polanski's wife in it. It's about sex, someone's fetish - strangulation. The vocalist is Nicola Kuperis from Adult. There are videos being worked on at the moment in Japan.
Tim: The single Scorpio Rising is out before Christmas.
Richard: Christmas No.1!
Tim: Not!

William: Will you be touring the States next year?
Richard: Yeah. We're unsigned in the States, so we're negotiating with different labels at the moment. As soon as that's confirmed, we'll tour, but not until next year.

DayBeat: What about the equipment in your studio, are there any toys like the SH-101 that you always love to use, or do you prefer to try new instruments?
Tim: A small furry bull called Ssshheyutttt. He's one of our favourite characters. The way we work is that we get ideas in the studio, Richard has a little sample or break or something, and he'll loop it up, then play keys over the top.
Richard: Tim wil play on the keyboard, or I play something on guitar... we also have films playing through the desk as well, so we might be watching something, like Italian horror stuff.
