The Bays

The Bays The Bays came together for a one-off live gig in November 1999. Since then this 'improvisation band' project has grown from a pub gig hobby into a stadium festival phenomenon. Turning up to the venue, the Bays set up, line check and play…they never rehearse, have no 'set-list' because they don't have 'songs' and so have never done the same gig twice.

The band have no studio album, but a compilation of live material was released free on the cover of Jockey Slut earlier in the year.

The Bays are Andy Gangadeen on drums, Chris Taylor on bass, Jamie Odell on keyboards and synths and Simon 'Smugg' Wadmore dropping vocal samples and creating sci-fi FX.

Echoboy

Echoboy As a teenager Richard Warren (AKA Echoboy) learned heady guitar licks from Hendrix, went on the front the power trio The Hybirds and was courted by Oasis when they found themselves suddenly guitar-less. He turned them down and holed up with an 8-track and a Casio above his mum's hair salon in Nottingham he set about creating new worlds.

He released his debut 'Flashlegs' single on Pointblank records in July 1998, shortly followed by the 'Echoboy' album. More singles followed: 'Scene 30' on Earworm, and an unprecedented double 7" 'Pure New Wool' for the Rough Trade Singles Club.

Echoboy signed to Mute in March 1999, releasing first the 'Frances Says The Knife Is Alive' EP the single 'Kit and Holly' and his second album 'Volume 1'. Six months later 'Volume 2' his third LP was released, again on Mute.

Echoboy toured extensively last year, aided by various musicians, including members of Spiritualized and Six By Seven, his music enthralling audiences throughout Europe. His next album, "Giraffe", is due out early next year.

Echoboy will be supporting Puressence on the following dates;
Friday 25th October at Brighton Pavillion
Sunday 27th October at the Little Civic in Wolverhampton
Monday 28th October at the Georgian Theatre in Stockton.
Tuesday 29th Oct at King Tuts in Glasgow
Friday 1stNovember at MDH in Manchester.

The P Brothers

The P Brothers are Ivory AKA Moe Brandy and Paul S AKA The Baron. Moe started out in '83 at Nottingham's infamous Rock City Saturday jams, has done the cuts on L Fudge's album, Rodney P's recent 12", and has a heavyweight selection of trainers (specialising in Nike).

Paul began collecting breakbeats in 1986, finding "Johnny The Fox" in his Dad¹s collection then proceeding to buy "Scratchin" by Magic Disco Machine and Sly Stone's "Rock Dirge" within a week. He released his first record in 1992, the classic Nautilus-sampling "Let Me Hear You Say" on Flange Records, remixed "Do Ya Dirt" by P-Live for Smokers Blend Records and was L Fudge's tour DJ all over Europe.

Together they are responsible for the Heavy Bronx record label, on which they¹ve released several high calibre EPs. They also like to talk to obscure people in New York about breakbeats, and other aspects of hip-hop culture on behalf of Big Daddy Magazine.

As well as being Lethal Technicians on production, the P Brothers have DJ'd with acts such as Marley Marl, Craig G, Brand Nubian, Jeru, Ultramagnetic MCs, Master Ace, Mauritzio, Kool DJ Herc, the Rock Steady Crew and countless others.
