Top US envoys head to Ukraine for talks after Moscow visit

A White House official has described Saturday’s talks in Moscow as “substantive”.

President Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are due to land in Kyiv on Sunday, following what the White House described as “substantive” discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin about ending the war in Ukraine on Saturday in Moscow. Sunday’s visit will be the first trip by either man to Ukraine’s capital since Trump returned to office.

Also in the programme: in Germany, voters are heading to the polls in a state election in Saxony-Anhalt; public commemorations have been taking place in Serbia for the convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić who died ten days ago in a UN jail; and we hear from the director of a new film about a young housemaid hiding a dangerous secret shortly after Nazi occupation of Denmark.
