Fifa President defends handling of Football World Cup

As the tournament gets underway, Infantino told football fans to “chill and relax”.

The head of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has defended the organisation of the football World Cup, on the eve of the opening ceremony. It comes amid fierce criticisms over visas, tickets and the US's stance towards the Iranian team.

The US has carried out a wave of new strikes on Iran after President Trump said American forces would hit the country "hard" as sirens sound in Bahrain and air defences reportedly are engaged in Kuwait.

And there's been a second day of unrest in the northern Ireland city of Belfast that's impacted foreigners and ethnic minorities, we speak to a Congolese resident.
