Auschwitz memories: 'I have seen people being shot'
As a young girl, Alina Peretti was interned at the Auschwitz death camp as World War II drew to a close. She survived and lived to tell the tale. But it was only recently that her son, Jacques Peretti, decided to piece together his mother's stories - recollections she can recall with great clarity in spite of being recently diagnosed with dementia. Jacques was amazed to hear an epic tale of pain, hope and bravery. They’ve now published a book, telling her story - Little Bird of Auschwitz.
