From his strong hold in Medellin, Colombia, Escobar rose from the poverty of the slums to feature on the Forbes magazine’s billionaires list. He was a folk hero in his hometown of Medellin and one of America’s most wanted men in the early 1990s. It is this world that has been brought to life in the Netflix TV drama series Narcos.
