Philip Seymour Hoffman has become the latest celebrity to die from taking drugs. His premature death made headlines around the world - but what is less reported is the rising number of deaths from drug overdoses of both illegal and prescription drugs in the US – outstripping those of road traffic accidents and firearm deaths.
