Guardians of Crete

85 years on from the Battle of Crete - a key conflict in World War II - Roma Wells travels to the Greek island to meet the new guardians of Crete. From the people protecting precious turtle nests on some of the most popular tourist beaches, to the collector who's turned his house into a museum of fragments of wartime relics, and from the TikTok star safeguarding the ancient and isolated lifestyle of Crete's traditional mountain shepherds to the man rescuing and rehabilitating the island's vulture population.
