Backstage at the Belfast International Tattoo!

Backstage at the Belfast International Tattoo and a poetic collaboration with the Irish language.

Helen Mark MBE presents BBC Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine this week alongside Rab Lennox, Jonnie Crawford and Willie Hill. This week, Kintra brings listeners backstage at the incredible Belfast International Tattoo which took place at the O2 Arena in Belfast. Joining Rab to meet some of the folk from all around the world who had descended on Belfast for a celebration of Ulster-Scots culture was dancer Emma Bryson. Emma had a unique perspective to share in that she was actually performing!

Meanwhile, Jonnie caught up with writer Darren Gibson ahead of an evening of poetry in both Ulster-Scots and Irish at the Guildhall in Derry, which he’s hosting alongside Irish writer Proinsias Mac A Bhiard.

There’s also a hefty round-up of exciting U-S related events taking place in the coming weeks.

As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email – kintra@bbc.co.uk
