The Bad Plus' 4/4

This week, Soweto is joined by pioneering American jazz trio The Bad Plus. This year, they have decided to say farewell after 26 years of boundary-pushing music. Founded in 2000, they have built a reputation for fearless improvisation, adventurous compositions and a sound that draws just as much from rock and contemporary classical music as it does from jazz tradition.

From Monday to Thursday, and in a break from the usual format of 4/4, they will be taking us on a journey through the history of the band with four of their own tracks, featuring reflections from founding members bassist Reid Anderson and drummer David King recorded at this year’s Love Supreme Jazz Festival.

Also in the programme, there is music from Eddie Durham, Allexa Nava and Thundercat.

‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.
