Midge Ure looks back at the 1986 Prince’s Trust Rock Concert, organised to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the charity. As musical director for the event, he is perfectly placed to discuss a show that included stars such as Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins and Elton John.
He describes how the concert was rehearsed, how worried he was about getting songs wrong, his favourite moments and the joyous spontaneity of seeing acts perform that would never been seen together at any other time or place.
