His father was a high ranking officer in the air force and he was an embarrassment to the family. One day Johnny Cash was in the recording studio where Kris was working as a janitor, and he handed the letter to Johnny Cash. Cash read it. And with a wry smile he turned to Kris and said, "Good to get a letter from home."
