What happens when Hollywood comes to Scotland
7 April 2017
Explosions on the set of the new Marvel film, Avengers: Infinity War, caused a lot of excitement on Edinburgh's Royal Mile this week.
The comic book giant, owned by Disney, is the latest studio to take advantage of Scotland’s urban and rural landscape.
But Marvel are not the only filmmakers to come here in recent years. Here's a selection of other blockbusters that were filmed in Scotland.
World War Z
The centre of Glasgow pretended to be the US city of Philadelphia while Brad Pitt was there filming World War Z in 2011.
The Dark Knight Rises
The opening scene of The Dark Knight Rises saw a dramatic fight scene taking place in the skies above the Highlands.
Fast and the Furious 6
The sixth installment (they're on number eight now if you're counting) of the car-based action franchise came to Glasgow in 2012. Roads around the Broomielaw were closed at night to allow shooting to take place.
Prometheus
Ridley Scott's return to the Alien franchise saw him filming on Skye's Trotternish Ridge.
