Katherine Grimes appointed BBC Chief Press Officer

The BBC has appointed Katherine Grimes to the post of Chief Press Officer.
In her new role, Katherine will act as a key editorial figure in the BBC's press operation.
Reporting to Head of Press Donald Steel and recently appointed Deputy Head of Press Ben Wilson, she will handle all aspects of media liaison and relations, including issues management for the portfolio of BBC public services.
She will also take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the BBC Press Office.
Currently a Media Relations Manager for the BBC Press Office, Katherine's appointment is with immediate effect.

As a Media Relations Manager at the BBC, Katherine has been actively involved in managing many high profile corporate issues for the BBC.
Previously Katherine was a programme publicist for the BBC's Arts output, delivering successful campaigns for The Big Read and Simon Schama's Power Of Art. She was also a member of the team that launched BBC Four.
She joined the BBC in 2001.
Katherine began her career at PR agency Colman Getty, after studying History at Somerville College, Oxford.
Katherine was born in Portsmouth.
