Look North celebrates its 40th birthday

BBC One's flagship regional news programme Look North this week celebrates its 40th anniversary with a special party at Bradford's National Media Museum.

Presenters Harry Gration and Christa Ackroyd and weatherman Paul Hudson will be joined by past presenters and producers in a birthday edition of the programme at 6.30pm on Friday 28 March 2008.

Look North assistant editor Denise Wallace said: "The final plans are now in place for what looks set to be a wonderful anniversary programme.

"It's been a fantastic 40 years for Look North which has established itself as a friendly and reliable news source for the people of Yorkshire.

"Things have changed a lot since the first programme was broadcast from All Souls Church on Blackman Lane in Leeds on March 25th 1968 but our guiding principles are still the same: to provide a lively mix of news, sport, entertainment and weather for the people of Yorkshire.

"It's great that so many familiar faces from the show - past and present - are going to be there to help us celebrate this milestone in the programme's history."
