Charlie spins the reel for new Radio Scotland series

Charlie Whelan, former press spokesman for Gordon Brown, is to present a
new series on fishing for BBC Radio Scotland.
In Charlie Whelan's Gone Fishing, the self-confessed
fishaholic will talk to other fishermen and women about their life and
passion for the king of fish... wild Scottish salmon.
Fishing some of the most beautiful and exclusive beats in the country,
Charlie's guests reveal how they go about fishing – whether it's for
relaxation away from the cameras, to be more at one with nature or because
the riverbank is an extension of their office.
The series starts on Wednesday 2 January 2008 with the very private fisherman,
but public face of Chris Tarrant.
In a year where he has featured
prominently in the tabloids, he talks openly about his love for fishing,
his involvement in the Wheelie Boat scheme and the impact that this year
has had on him.
Other highlights in the series include Simon Hart revealing his first
forays into fishing were strictly illegal as he poached his local river
with his father. Today, he is the Chief Executive of the Countryside
Alliance.

embarrassment of not being able to cast when she opened the exclusive Tay
season. And how reporting on the Lockerbie bombing affected her as she lived in the Borders at the time.
