BBC Vision launches
e-commissioning

From March 2007 independent and in-house programme makers submitting programme proposals to BBC Vision will find the system quicker and less bureaucratic.

The BBC is to update its commissioning process through the introduction of a web-based system for managing programme proposals.

The new site will enable the BBC Vision to handle the huge volume of proposals it receives faster and more effectively.

Having submitted their proposals electronically programme makers will be able to track the progress of their ideas online.

Jana Bennett, Director, BBC Vision, said: "Vision moves fully into multiplatform commissioning this April and capturing every proposal on this website means that we can spend more time developing the very best creative ideas.

"And because this system makes it easier to track the progress of proposals, we can ensure there's a level playing field for independents and in-house production as the WOCC becomes operational."

The system has been designed to protect the confidentiality of ideas - proposals can only be seen by the relevant people in commissioning and those who submitted the proposal.

Further information including how to register on the site will be available later this month at bbc.co.uk/commissioning.
