BBC Sport's award-winning Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker has today been announced as the new presenter for golf.
Gary will be the main presenter for BBC Sport's major golfing events such as The Open.
Gary's first tournament as the BBC's main golf presenter will begin with The Masters from Augusta next April.
BBC Director of Sport, Roger Mosey, said: "Gary has become one of the BBC's most respected and liked presenters in football and it's exciting for him and, we hope, for the audience that he's now adding the major golf events to his portfolio.
"Gary loves golf and we want his relaxed, authoritative style to feel as much at home on the 18th fairway as it does in the Match of the Day studio."
Gary is a keen golfer and is no stranger to presenting golf on the BBC having regularly presented golf highlights programmes for a number of years.
Gary has twice been named RTS Sports Presenter of the Year and he has also won the TRIC Sports Presenter of the Year award.
