Arsenal missed out on my son Shaun, says Wrighty

The Ian Wright Show - BBC Radio Five Live, Saturday 23 July from 7.00 to 8.00pm

In the aftermath of Shaun Wright Phillips' £21m transfer to Chelsea, Ian Wright told Five Live that Arsenal missed their chance to sign his son after he recommended him to the club as a youngster.

Speaking on The Ian Wright Show on Radio Five Live about Arsene Wenger's comments about Chelsea having the upper hand in transfers, Ian Wright said: "I did recommend him when he was younger but it didn't work out. The fact that he's worth £21m makes me so proud."

Wrighty talks about how he recommended his son to the Gunners but the move didn't happen; and how he hated former Gunners Manager, Bruce Rioch.

Also featuring on the show on Saturday at 7.00pm is Lawrence Dallaglio, giving his thoughts on Sir Clive Woodward and the disastrous recent Lions tour of New Zealand.

Lawrence says: "We made them look a lot better than they actually were; at the end of the day we didn't have the class. I was very disappointed about the late challenge on the captain Brian O'Driscoll.

"It wasn't sorted out by the officials and I have to say if I'd had been there the first thing I would have done would have been to make sure we sorted out those guys straight away.

"Sir Clive was probably over-praised after the World Cup victory."

Other guests include Craig David; Suggs, Woody and Mikey from Madness, talking about Chelsea; Lee Ryan from Blue on his football skills and falling out of nightclubs; and chef Aldo Zilli, who explains why he doesn't like the French... and eats at MacDonald's.
