1Xtra is announcing three new signings to the network and some changes to its broadcast schedule as it approaches its third birthday in August 2005.
The evolution of the schedule reflects the station's commitment to developing existing talent and breaking new black music.
With the new schedule, 1Xtra builds on the recent RAJAR success which saw the station's 15+ audience grow from 288,000 to 351,000 listeners.
Highlights of the schedule changes are as follows:
Weekdays, Noon-2.00pm, Nesha
Nesha started at 1Xtra in its Xtra Talent slot in 2002.
She was soon promoted to Saturday breakfast, in August 2004 she gained the weekday show (3.00-5.00pm) with G Money.
Nesha will now present solo and G Money will co-present TX Unlimited from 2.00pm weekdays.
Weekdays, 2.00-4.00pm, TX Unlimited
A new time for 1Xtra's news strand TX Unlimited with Charlene White which will have a new weekday co-host G Money.
Weekdays, 4.00-7.00pm, Ace & Invisible
The Sony Gold award winners will move from lunchtime to late afternoon.
Thursdays, 2.00-6.00am, Mistajam - new signing
This 22-year-old DJ from Nottingham has been DJ'ing for nearly a decade and owns his own promotions company and label, Sureshot Entertainment.
Mistajam begins the Thursday night/Friday morning M1X slot bringing the best in hip hop to the station.
Fridays & Saturdays, 7.00-10.00pm, DJ Semtex
Semtex gains a new show - Friday Night Mixtape - in addition to his Saturday Night Mixtape.
Saturdays, 6.00-9.00am, Ayesha - new signing
At age 15 Ayesha Asantewaa completed a week's work experience at 1Xtra.
Twelve months on in 2004 she was a finalist in a competition 1Xtra held in conjunction with BBC Talent.
In 2005, aged just 17, Ayesha will join the station with her own Saturday breakfast show.
Saturdays & Sundays, 9.00am-Noon, Jenna G
Jenna G joined the station in its Xtra Talent slot early last year and in August 2004 she gained a Saturday afternoon show with Twin B.
Jenna flies solo for the first time in a new weekend morning slot while Twin B hosts solo on Saturdays from 5.00 to 7.00pm.
Saturdays & Sundays, 2.00-5.00pm, Seani B
Seani B's hip hop and dancehall show The Mixlab, previously a Sunday evening slot, becomes a weekend show.
Sundays, 2.00-4.00am, Alex Jordon - new signing
Having successfully worked as a broadcaster for Barbados radio station Yess FM, Alex Jordon takes over from DJ Slic to present the International Sounds of Soca.

The schedule changes will take effect from 1 August 2005.
