BBC WM is delighted to announce that its popular Saturday Lunchtime Show host has been given a regular weekday slot.

Jimmy Franks begins presenting his own show on weekdays from Monday 11 April between 10.00pm and 1.00am.

Jimmy takes over from husband and wife team, Tony Wadsworth and Julie Mayer who, after a decade of broadcasting for BBC WM, bow out at the end of March before they begin a new show with the BBC.

Jimmy is already one of the Midlands' most established and popular media personalities.

His experience across the media and communications spectrum - radio, TV, DJ'ing, organising and hosting major events and presenting - makes him one of the region's most versatile communicators.

Jimmy says he was shocked to receive the news.

"I returned to BBC WM just a few months ago to present the Saturday Lunchtime Show. I'm absolutely delighted to be offered a full time slot," he says.

"Tony and Julie are very well established and have built up a loyal following."

He adds: "I'm very much looking forward to picking up from where they leave off and making my own mark with the station's listeners.

"This really is an excellent opportunity and I can hardly wait to get started."

BBC WM's Managing Editor Keith Beech says: "There's no question that Tony and Julie will be missed by everyone here at the station.

"They're staying with the BBC but unfortunately they are saying a fond farewell to all their BBC WM listeners. We wish them all the best for the future.

"It's great to have Jimmy on board for the slot. His Saturday Lunchtime Show has quickly established itself as a popular part of the weekend schedule and I'm sure his listeners will be pleased that they'll be able to hear him more frequently."

BBC WM is on 95.6 FM.
