Blue Peter presenter Liz Barker has given birth to a baby boy.

The baby, named Dexter Jack Barker Todd, was born on Saturday 4 December at the West Middlesex Hospital Maternity Unit, and weighed 8lbs 3oz.

Liz said: "Dexter is absolutely gorgeous and we are overjoyed!

"He arrived two weeks late and is more than worth the wait.

"We'd like to thank the staff in the maternity unit at the West Middlesex Hospital who were fantastic."

Dexter is the first child of Liz and her husband Michael Todd.

Liz plans to return to Blue Peter from maternity leave in April.
