Grab your chance to present the news alongside Nick Owen, Suzanne Virdee or Steve Clamp for one day only, between 11.00am and 4.00pm on 28 October at The Mailbox.

To celebrate BBC Midlands Today's move to BBC Birmingham's new home at The Mailbox, the BBC Public Space is marking the occasion by inviting the public to come along, participate and become a television presenter for the day.

Midlands Today begins broadcasting from The Mailbox on Monday 25 October and to highlight the move, a special mini-set is being erected, including a desk, camera and autocue, complete with real-life presenter who will sit and read the news with members of the public.

Nick, Suzanne and Steve will take it in turns to sit alongside visitors to the BBC Public Space, reading a mock-up of a Midlands Today bulletin from the autocue, with their performance being recorded by the crew.

Schedule for 28 October 2004:

11.00am - Steve Clamp

12.30pm - Nick Owen

2.00pm - Alison Marsh

2.30pm - Suzanne Virdee

3.30pm - Alison Marsh

At the end of their presenting debut, participants get to take the recording of their performance alongside the professionals home with them.

Chas Watkin, Editor of Midlands Today, says: "This is a fantastic opportunity for members of the public to visit our new home at The Mailbox, meet the presenters and also get to record their own news bulletin.

"Who knows, we may find the next generation of BBC Midlands Today news readers!"

The event runs from 11.00am to 4.00pm on Thursday 28 October in the BBC Public Space, Level 7, The Mailbox.

Midlands Today broadcasts weekdays from 6.30pm, with regular bulletins throughout the day.
