Des Meets... starts 21 August on BBC Radio
Five Live
Broadcasting legend Des Lynam is to rejoin the BBC
next month to present a new Saturday show interviewing the leading lights
of the sporting world.
Des Meets..., which starts on Five Live at midday on 21 August, will
showcase Lynam's talents for interviewing, bringing him face to face
with some of sport's top names.
Controller of Five Live, Bob Shennan, said: "Des is a master of
the art of radio broadcasting and Five Live is his natural home. Sports
fans around the country will breathe a sigh of relief that he will be
back on the airwaves."
Des Lynam said: "In many ways I'm coming home to the BBC, which
has been my broadcasting base on and off for 30 years.
"I'll be happy to get back onto the radio and this show is a chance
to really get to know some of my sporting heroes and share that experience."
The series of intimate conversations will draw on Lynam's own
relaxed conversational style and get behind the personalities of the
world's top sporting talent.
