In their first
sketch show series for six years, French & Saunders are back with
all the old favourites as well as new targets, and with a brand new
narrative spine.
Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders now finally have their
own office at the BBC complete with one parking space (they didn't
read this bit of their contract properly).
The BBC ONE series takes a behind the scenes look at
them writing their shows.
As a narrative to each show we see them in the BBC,
struggling, dreaming, arguing and sleeping as they try and keep the
boss lady Elaine happy.
We see them arriving at the office, battling with security
and hanging around studios and lifts watching for celebrities to persuade
to be in their shows.
There are also, of course, lots of trips to the tea
bar.
The series will have their usual brand of parodies and
sketches which will include tributes to Cold Mountain, Girl with a Pearl
Earring and The Passion of the Christ.
The shows will also include celebrity contributions
with celebrities often playing themselves as well as playing
parts in the spoofs.
Past celebrities have included Jane Asher, Richard and
Judy, The Spice Girls, Felicity Kendall, John Nettles, Kathy Burke,
Kylie Minogue, Dusty Springfield, Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons, Ronnie
Corbett, Miranda Richardson, Alison Steadman, Basil Brush...
