Scotland proved to be the brainiest nation in Britain and Scottish TV presenter Jenni Falconer was the highest scoring celebrity in Test the Nation: The Great British Test, which transmitted tonight (Saturday 20 March) on BBC ONE.

Jenni proved that you can be blonde and brainy, beating Chris Colquhoun (Casualty), Myleene Klaas (musician), Roberta Taylor (The Bill), Clare Balding (BBC Sport), Paul Rankin (chef), James Fox (ex-Fame Academy and now Eurovision hopeful) and Adam Hollioake (ex-England Cricket Captain).

Scotland also proved to be the brainiest nation when it comes to knowledge of Britain, knocking Northern Ireland off the top with a score of 38 out of 75.

Out of the six groups in the studio two groups scored the highest. Celebrities and Tour Guides both achieved 47 correct questions.

67,000 people took part online and 25,500 used their thumbs on the night to send their answers via text message.

In the battle of the sexes, men once again beat women, with a score of 38 to 36.

Men have continued to prove they are brighter than women when it comes to Test the Nation, although they are less romantic - Test the Nation: The Relationship Test (2003) was the only one where women have beaten men.

Test the Nation: The Great British Test is a Talent TV production for BBC ONE
.

The test can be taken online for a further two weeks after the show has
transmitted at www.bbc.co.uk/testthenation
