HARDtalk with Katharine Hamnett

Fashion designer Katharine Hamnett is interviewed by Sarah Montague on tonight's BBC News 24 HARDtalk programme.

One of Britain's best known award-winning designers, Katharine Hamnett is the most overtly political fashion designer of her generation, campaigning on issues from nuclear weapons to the war in Iraq.

She's just been to Mali with Oxfam, and is campaigning against United States cotton subsidies, which will be discussed at the World Trade Organisation meeting in Cancun this week.

Having seen at first hand the poverty in Mali, she is outraged at the subsidies and wants to persuade the world's rich nations to do more for the world's poor.

Katharine Hamnett talks to Sarah Montague on BBC News 24's HARDtalk at 11.30pm today (Friday 12 September).
