HARDtalk with Joseph Wilson, former US Ambassador

Joseph Wilson, former United States Ambassador, is interviewed by Tim Sebastian on BBC News 24's HARDtalk tonight.

Joseph Wilson, who was an ambassador in Africa and the last American diplomat to meet Saddam Hussein, was sent to Niger to investigate claims that Iraq had tried to buy uranium from Africa.

He decided it was highly doubtful that any transaction had taken place and claims the White House used the allegation as part of a trend towards overstating the Iraqi threat.

He talks to Tim Sebastian in HARDtalk on BBC News 24 at 11.30pm today (Thursday 21 August 2003).

This programme was originally scheduled for broadcast on Tuesday evening.

All the BBC's digital services are now available on Freeview, the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well as on satellite and cable.
