  Barron
to edit major new current affairs strand
Peter
Barron is to be Editor of a new BBC TWO current affairs strand to
be launched early next year.
Head
of BBC Current Affairs, Peter Horrocks, said: "Peter is one
of the most creative current affairs talents in Britain and I am
delighted he is re-joining the BBC to lead this important new project.
"The
new hour-long programme will be dedicated to illuminating the biggest
issues concerning the future of Britain and the world and is a significant
new initiative for BBC Current Affairs.
"It
will be well funded and prominently scheduled every month and will
combine high production values and original research into major
subjects."
Peter
Barron
has been a senior producer on Newsnight, where he won a Royal Television
Society journalism award for his investigation into the Arms for
Iraq scandal.
He
was then Deputy Editor of Channel Four News, and more recently has
been Deputy Editor of Tonight with Trevor MacDonald.
