BBC WM

Sally James comes home to the Midlands

Ex-Tiswas favourite Sally James is returning to the West Midlands next month to present a weekly afternoon programme on BBC WM.

Despite her successful television career, Sally stepped out of the limelight while her children were growing up but now they are older she's delighted to make a return to the media.

An experienced TV and radio presenter, she is still something of a cult figure due to her role on the Saturday morning favourite, Tiswas - even though it came off air over 20 years ago.

"I had so much fun on the programme, and even to this day I'm asked who the 'phantom flan flinger' is, but my lips are still sealed!" laughs Sally.

Sally's no stranger to Pebble Mill either, after presenting talk show 6:55 Special on BBC TWO in the eighties, and is thrilled to be coming back to join BBC WM:

"The West Midlands really is my second home. I was so happy working here for Tiswas that I feel I have an affinity with the area and the people."

From 20 June, Sally will host a programme every Friday between 1.00 and 4.00pm, across all of BBC WM's frequencies.

Keith Beech, Managing Editor, BBC WM, says: "I'm very excited about signing Sally for BBC WM. She's an extremely talented professional and we're delighted to have her on board.

"Her show, together with the introduction of Adrian Goldberg to our Breakfast Show, means the station is going from strength to strength."

As well as presenting, Sally can also turn her hand to acting, after appearing in the successful television comedy The Grimleys, and performing in many pantomimes, including a stint in Wolverhampton.

And, as if this wasn't enough she's even been in the pop charts, with The Bucket of Water Song.

Join Sally James every Friday on BBC WM from 1.00 to 4.00pm.

BBC WM broadcasts on 94.8, 95.6, 103.7 and 104FM.
