BBC WM

Quit smoking with the help of BBC WM!

BBC WM (across Coventry and Warwickshire) is looking for people in the Wood End area of Coventry to be interviewed about their attempts to give up smoking.

The search for smokers is part of the Voices project which is a national BBC venture that sees BBC staff working closely with local people, giving them an opportunity to tell their own stories.

Moira Rawlings, BBC WM's Voices producer, wants to find people who are prepared to try out nicotine patches (for free) and record their thoughts and feelings as they start a cigarette-free life. Their diaries will then be broadcast on BBC WM in May.

A special 'no smoking' starter session is being held at Wood End Health Centre, Deedmore Road on Saturday 26 April between 10.00am and noon for people who are keen to stub out their habit forever.

Moira says: "With 12 million adult cigarette smokers in Great Britain* there have got to be some people in Coventry who want to give up.

"Even if you don't want to feature on radio you can still come along on Saturday as free nicotine patches and advice are available to all. We look forward to seeing potential quitters on Saturday!"

BBC WM broadcasts across Coventry & Warwickshire on 94.8, 104 & 103.7FM.
