  BBC
ONE continues investment in comedy
Lorraine
Heggessey, Controller of BBC ONE, has announced two new comedy commissions.
Doctors
and Nurses, starring Adrian Edmondson, will centre on the
love-hate relationship between two orthopaedic surgeons on the Isle
of Wight.
The
series, due to start in the autumn, is written by Nigel Smith and
Phil Hammond.
Eternal
Rectangle will star Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston as
a separated couple who still see each other because of their nine-year-old
son.
In
line with BBC ONE's commitment to quality comedy, Last of
the Summer Wine will return for another series, while two
new series of the highly successful My Family have
also been commissioned.
All the
BBC's digital services are now available on Freeview,
the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well
as on satellite and cable.
Freeview
offers the BBC's eight television channels, interactive services
from BBCi, as well as 11 BBC radio networks.
