Two new additions to BBC Sport's racing stable

BBC Sport today announced two new additions to its television racing stable. Rishi Persad and Ian Bartlett will join the BBC racing team in the coming weeks.

Currently to be seen on the Attheraces channel, Rishi will be joining the BBC team in late April in a presentational and reporting role.

Ian Bartlett, who has worked with Sky television, the Racing channel and for BBC Radio Five Live, will join the BBC's commentary team for the meeting from Ascot on 29 March.

Announcing the new members of the team, Barbara Slater, the BBC's Head of General Sport said: "We're delighted to announce these two appointments, which we feel will complement our existing racing line-up.

"Both Rishi and Ian bring an immense amount of knowledge and experience with them and their appointment will further strengthen our commitment to quality racing coverage."

Rishi Persad said: "I'm delighted to join such an internationally recognised broadcaster as the BBC and look forward to working with such established names as Clare Balding on the BBC's racing coverage."

Rishi will continue to work for Attheraces alongside his new role at BBC Sport.

Brad Higgins, Attheraces Director of Programming said: "Having given Rishi Persad his big break, Attheraces is delighted that BBC Sport has now recognised Rishi's talent, energy and vigour. Rishi will continue to be an important part of the Attheraces team and we wish him all the best."

All the BBC's digital services are now available on Freeview, the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well as on satellite and cable.

Freeview offers the BBC's eight television channels, interactive services from BBCi, as well as 11 BBC radio networks.
