HARDtalk: Pete King

On BBC News 24's HARDtalk tonight (Thursday 13 March 2003), Tim Sebastian interviews the Republican Congressman for New York, Pete King.

With the rhetoric over Iraq intensifying, what lasting damage have the splits in the western alliance caused?

Pete King has dismissed France as a "second-rate country". He believes that their actions within the UN mean they should be ejected from the Atlantic alliance.

How representative are his views? Do they reflect similar thinking within the United States administration and wider American public?

Notes to Editors

HARDtalk is broadcast on BBC News 24, Monday to Friday at 10.30pm, and is repeated Tuesday to Saturday at 2.30am.
