HARDtalk: Robert Kagan

On BBC News 24's HARDtalk tonight (Friday 7 March 2003), Tim Sebastian interviews Robert Kagan of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Robert Kagan is a Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

He has worked in the United States Department of State, where he wrote speeches for the then Secretary of State George Schultz.

His current book Paradise and Power: America and Europe in the New World Order is an analysis of the power struggle between the US and Europe.

He argues that the interests of the US and its allies are diverging sharply, and that this is the basis of the change in the transatlantic relationship, and the current mud-slinging.

Robert Kagan talks to Tim Sebastian.

Notes to Editors

HARDtalk is broadcast on BBC News 24, Monday to Friday at 10.30pm, and is repeated Tuesday to Saturday at 2.30am.
