BBC Arabic steps up its broadcasts


BBC World Service in Arabic, BBC Arabic, intensifies its broadcasts in the run up to the general elections in Israel, President George Bush's State of the Union Address and the UN Iraq Weapons Inspection Report.


Today (Monday 27 January 2003), the BBC Arabic team will produce a special broadcast on the UN Weapons Inspectors' Report from Iraq, including interviews and analyses.


On Wednesday 29 January, BBC Arabic brings live coverage from Washington of the State of the Union Address.


Special programming includes analysis of the speech and interviews with regional experts.


Throughout this period the team is also bringing extensive coverage of the Israeli general elections.


Radio output includes the flagship morning daily news programme Al Alam Haza al Sabah (The World This Morning), while bbcarabic.com will be bringing detailed coverage of the Israeli general elections, including all the latest developments, interviews with key politicians and analysts and opportunities for online discussion and debates.
