BBC Scotland wins rights for Celtic-Celta Vigo tie

BBC Scotland has announced that terrestrial football fans will be able to enjoy both legs of Celtic's meeting with top La Liga outfit Celta Vigo.

Both legs of this UEFA Cup Third Round tie are exclusively live on Radio Scotland and BBC ONE Scotland.

Scotland's champions comfortably dismissed Graeme Souness' Blackburn in the previous round, winning both legs at Celtic Park and Ewood Park.

However, Martin O’Neill's team face a stiffer test from Spanish opposition in this round.

Last season, Celtic were eliminated by Spanish giants Valencia, but only penalties could divide the teams after the tie finished 1-1 in normal time, so the Scottish side should be confident heading into the first leg.

The first leg at Celtic Park will be live on BBC ONE Scotland and Radio Scotland on Thursday 28 November with an 8.05pm kick-off.

The return leg in Spain on Thursday 12 December is also live on BBC ONE Scotland and Radio Scotland with a 8.05pm kick-off.

BBC Scotland Head of Programmes, Ken MacQuarrie said: "Celtic did themselves and Scottish football a favour by comprehensively beating Blackburn in the last round.

"I am delighted that BBC Scotland has won exclusive rights for both legs of Celtic's next European adventure against Celta Vigo, enhancing our reputation as the broadcasting home of Scottish football."
