Freedland to host The Talk Show on BBC FOUR

Jonathan Freedland is to present BBC Four's discussion programme, The Talk Show.

Freedland will begin hosting the weekly programme from Monday 11 November, replacing Andrew Marr, who is moving to BBC Radio 4's Start the Week.

Freedland is an award winning journalist and broadcaster who has already made regular appearances as presenter of The Talk Show.

He also fronts BBC Radio 4's history series, The Long View and earlier this year he deputised for Jeremy Paxman on BBC Radio 4's Start the Week.

Since 1997 he has been a columnist on the Guardian, having served for four years as the paper's Washington Correspondent.

In 1998 he published Bring Home the Revolution: the Case for a British Republic, which was adapted into a TV series for BBC TWO in 2000.

Roly Keating, the Controller of BBC FOUR said: "Jonathan is a fine journalist and a natural broadcaster.

"He's the ideal person to build on Andrew Marr's remarkable achievement in establishing the Talk Show as a unique space for stimulating, thoughful conversation."

The Talk Show, is on BBC FOUR on Mondays at 8.30pm. Guests have included Norman Mailer, Martin Amis, Gore Vidal and Kenneth Kaunda.
