 New
look for BBC-TWO's Newsnight
Newsnight is launching a new title sequence, graphics package and
set on Monday 24 June, which places the programme firmly at the
heart of BBC News.
The
look of the new set is closer to core BBC News branding, the aim
being to create a more modern, brighter and theatrical look to the
set and the graphics.
Newsnight
Editor George Entwistle says: "After several years' excellent
service, Newsnight's existing set was starting to creak a bit.
"Under the supervision of Martin Lambie-Nairn, Liquid News
set designer Chris Webster has produced a striking and technologically
innovative space that's a real step forward - cleaner and much less
cluttered, with three big screens and much greater lighting flexibility.
"There's a dramatic new titles sequence too, which combines
modernity with key elements of Newsnight's heritage.
"Our
aim was to create a discreet, modern and welcoming look which would
enhance our journalism and interviews. I'm very pleased with the
outcome."
Martin
Lambie-Nairn, creative director Lambie-Mairn company, says: "The
brief for the project required us to identify Newsnight as part
of the BBC News family whilst reflecting the individual qualities
of this famous programme.
"The solution includes the BBC News circular motifs which form
the basis of the set, giving the programme a sense of forum and
discussion, and again in the graphics which retain the familiar
globe and crescent, reinterpreting them in the BBC News visual language."
