Love is in the air-waves on BBC Radio Newcastle

Love is in the air for listeners of BBC Radio Newcastle.

The region’s favourite breakfast presenter, Mike Parr, is preparing to play Cupid on Valentine’s night as his talk of romance on the air-waves could lead to romance in the air.

Dozens of people have already called the Mike Parr In The Morning show for their invitation to the singles’ night at BBC Radio Newcastle.

Sarah Drummond, Managing Editor, BBC Radio Newcastle, says: "Will Mike Parr be able to make 14 women happy in one night? That was the question we were all asking last week because more women than men were phoning! However, the guest list is nearly full now so we’re hoping Cupid will release his arrows in the direction of our participants on Thursday!"

Mike hosts the event, this Thursday (14 February) with 14 men and 14 women hoping to find love in the BBC canteen at Broadcasting Centre in Barrack Road, Newcastle.

Earlier in the day, Julia Hankin’s Afternoon Show is coming from a bed in the window of Fenwick’s Department store in Northumberland Street. As Julia gets in the mood for Valentine’s Day, she will be joined in her bed by her star guest - internationally renowned Chinese chef Ken Hom.
